A Shout Out to California Closets and Custom Shelving!
This downtown Seattle bedroom (which was part of a larger design project), didn’t have a whole lot of room for a bookshelf or nightstand, but the clients really wanted to maximize storage in their small space.
Now, we know that some things should be left to the experts, and while we are very experienced interior designers at Seriously Happy Homes, we aren’t closet designers. After learning what the clients hoped to create we suggested a built-in that would bridge the whole bed, and created a concept sketch with a couple of specific parameters (like to include the two wall sconces and to be sure to space the cabinetry to fit their existing art). Then we left the design in the expert hands of Shaun Verda at California Closets who put the following design together for us to review and the client to approve:
Once approved they handled the whole install, and the clients ended up with this tidy and efficient storage system built to perfectly fit their downtown Seattle condo:
So, our job on this project was simply to act as a design consultant, making sure to align the solution with the problem, and helping the client be well-informed before starting work with the California Closets sales person. While that isn’t a step *everyone* needs to go through, some folks fear that they’ll be over-sold by a sales person, and working with a designer like us (who doesn’t actually sell anything to anyone) is a great way to feel confident in the investments they make in their home.
One thing we can promise you is that if we can help you, we will! That said, if one of our colleagues is a better fit in terms of expertise, services, or aesthetics, we’re going to recommend you work with them. In the end we just want you to have a room you love, even when that means *not* paying us for certain design work. π€
If you find yourself in need of a designer, give us a shout! We’ll evaluate your project and see if we’re the right folks to help you create your happy place! π
